Balaclava Lane

Balaclava Lane was Jeremy's second opportunity to play a leading role. He plays the character of Alfie in the film. "Alfie Malone (16) is a smart, gentle natured boy. Although he has had almost every
obstacle thrown his way, more than a lot of Adults have ever had to go through, he keeps his positivity and gentle nature more in focus as to not let his broken spirit overcome him, trying to be positive no matter what is thrown his way!"

For this film, Jeremy was reunited with old acting coach, Chris Broadbent, who taught Jeremy very early on in his career. Chris wrote and directed Balaclava Lane, his other credits including 'Black Comedy', and A 'Place to Call Home'. The two actors worked together throughout the process to craft the character, Jeremy independently experimenting with making a character diary that contained chapters on the backstory of the relationship he had previously with each character he interacts with throughout the film. "Jeremy has literally taken my vision of Alfie and brought him to life in my first feature... I’m truely blessed to have had an incredible crew and perfect cast bring my story to life..." - Chris Broadbent.

This film really allowed Jeremy to put everything he's learnt so far into practice. He has been able to meet and create alongside new filmmakers, something he cherishes very deeply. Balaclava Lane is out now online (linked below), expecting to showcase in various film festivals throughout the year.

No Road To Neom

Jeremy co-wrote, acted in and worked as a vfx artist for this film which takes on themes and topics of classism, family and survival. In No Road to Neom, a group of teenage scavengers navigate a dystopian future where the world has become an endless void of sand and heat due to climate change and chemical warfare. The rich live comfortably in the City of Neom whilst the rest are left with scraps to survive on. After going on a raid for supplies, the scavengers return to their home, ‘The Nest’, to find a new arrival that would change their lives forever.

During pre production, Jeremy and his fellow filmmakers worked tirelessly on all aspects of the film with their roles set in place. Jeremy was one of two writers of the film and together they created the script and plot of the short. Hours of in depth research and zoom calls upon zoom calls were undertaken for every draft and version of the story.

In the film, Jeremy undertakes the role of T.K, the technological genius of the group of scavengers who works from the Nest during their raids and provides well thought out and strategic plans as to succeed in their ventures. He is a kind and caring boy who has grown up in poverty, forced to find family that stick by him through everything. Jeremy's approach to this character was quite unique to previous ones because he wrote him entirely. Through being a writer, Jeremy was able to get an extremely rare luxury of being able to ask the writer about the character as he was with him through every stage of the preparation process.

On set, Jeremy and his fellow filmmakers were amongst the very few young people working on set during Covid-19 in Australia. The creatives rose to the challenge exceptionally well with protocol being followed strictly and the story adapting to fit with legislation. When asked about his filmmaking experience in relation to Covid, Jeremy responded, “Storytelling helps me understand the world. Going into isolation I felt blocked from doing what I love and making films again was extremely freeing for me.” The film is now available online via the YouTube icon below!
